Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a direct hire Automation Engineer job near Whitehall, MI for our client, a growing manufacturer of quality products. This position supports projects for all of the client’s manufacturing plants in the US and abroad. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for developing and programming new manufacturing technology, supporting current technology in use at various company plants, and assisting other Automation Engineers in current projects. The Automation Engineer will work with design teams, plant automation technicians, plant engineers, and vendors as needed. This position will follow through the build phase and implementation of equipment into production. Our client offers a comprehensive benefits package and a salary based on experience. Responsibilities for the Automation Engineer Job near Whitehall, MI include:
- Development, implementation, testing and programming of new advanced manufacturing equipment and automation including robotics.
- Provide support and development of automation technicians across multiple company plants.
- Support engineering and manufacturing teams to improve existing processes.
- Coordinate robotic service visits.
- Develop troubleshooting and system guides for plant technicians
- Establishing PM’s and critical spare parts for automation machinery/robotics.
Qualifications
- BS Degree in the following Engineering disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Robotic, Industrial/Manufacturing, Aerospace, or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
- At least three (3) years or more of experience in industrial automation, robotics or similar, with experience programming PLCS, robots, and other electrical control- this can include an Internship or Co-Op.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience commissioning new equipment is preferred. .
- Able to travel as needed to various plant domestic/overseas when projects are scheduled. (20-30%)
- Experience in reading mechanical and electrical prints.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Familiar with RIA Robotic Safety Standards.

Preferred experience, higher pay rate and sign on bonus available if you have several of these preferred skills and work history to back it up:
- Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with controls/programming robotics.
- Experience in 6 axis articulating arm robotics is a plus!.
- Proficiency at robot programming, I/O management, and troubleshooting robotic systems logic is a plus
- Experience trouble-shooting robotic mechanical and electrical systems including pneumatics, sensors, tooling, measurement feedback systems, and basic design robustness is a plus
- Proficient in off-line programming environments.
- Basic understanding of controls and servo systems.
- Basic understanding of tooling and fixture design.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Experience programming HMI software.
