Job Description:

Emerge is actively recruiting for a 1st shift Maintenance Mechanic in Rochester, NY. Our client specializes in the manufacturing of injected molded parts for the medical device industry and has multiple plants in the United States. The 1st shift Maintenance Mechanic will report to the Maintenance Manager.  The 1st shift Maintenance Mechanic must have various mechanical experience and all-around abilities and be comfortable leading a team of mechanics as we relocate and expand our manufacturing operation locally.

The 1st Shift Mechanic would oversee all plant maintenance. There will be new equipment installation, fabrication, trouble shooting, repairs, preventive maintenance and building maintenance. This is a hands-on working position with key person duties. The successful candidate would work directly with the company core team for direction and planning.

The immediate focus of this role will be to assist with the planning and execution of the relocation of PR’s manufacturing equipment to an existing 60,000 sq ft warehouse on premises, while also performing initial assessments of current capital assets and developing appropriate PM routines for each. Heavy collaboration with our Farmington, CT site will be required to ensure best practices are implemented across both facilities.

Job Requirements for the 1st Shift Maintenance Mechanic in Rochester, NY:

  • Ability to perform maintenance within a formal site safety program up to and including: LOTO, Hot Work Programs, Confined Space, JSA/JHA Program.
  • Knowledge of 3 phase electrical and trouble shooting.
  • Mechanically proficient.
  • Computer proficient – ability to use enterprise software to place PO’s, order parts, and maintain a spare parts inventory.
  • Ability to manage a formal PM program for manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to lead a maintenance team in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and equipment maintenance manuals.
  • Perform welding and light fabrication. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of HVAC (not required, but helpful).
  • Knowledge in basic plumbing, air and hydraulics.
  • Forklift operation.
  • Rigging.
  • Plant safety
  • The normal hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with OT as required by the needs of the business.
  • Ability to flex schedule as needed to cover for vacation/absences on off shifts as needed.
  • May be responsible for training others or leading a team to perform a repair.

Job Requirements for the 1st Shift Maintenance Mechanic in Rochester, NY:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with plastic injection, plant automation/robotics and auxiliary equipment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with plastic injection and auxiliary equipment in a clean room environment.
  • Use and understanding of electrical testing equipment for troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics/prints.
  • Experience with 24VDC, 208 Single and three phase, 480 VAC.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills a must.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Open to working a flexible schedule.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license.
