Tax Supervisor

Job Description:

Overview

Emerge is working with
a
Rochester-based mid-sized accounting firm client in
search of a Tax Supervisor with experience in individual taxation, small and
mid-size business accounting, and taxation.
 The Tax Supervisor role will be an in-office
role and is responsible for working collaboratively with clients, partners, and
staff to provide comprehensive tax advisory and compliance services.

Job Responsibilities  

  • Manage tax projects for multiple client engagements in a
    broad variety of industries
  • Review partnerships tax returns and S Corp tax returns
  • Provide proactive and personalized tax planning, consulting,
    and compliance expertise directly to clients
  • Supervise tax staff; defines expectations and performance
    indicators
  • Delegates work to tax staff
  • Review engagement work papers, resolve issues, and proactively
    keep Managers and Partners informed of developments
  • Train, coach, mentor, and evaluate the performance of senior
    and staff accountants
  • Assist with assigned administrative functions as directed by
    Managers/Partners
  • Identify opportunities to offer additional services to
    existing clients
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • CPA license preferred, but not required as experience in lieu
    of CPA will be considered
  • 5+ years’ of experience in public accounting with a heavy
    emphasis on taxation
  • Expertise and knowledge of laws, regulations, and best
    practices
  • Experience with managing and leading effective accounting
    teams
  • Experience with international tax is desired, but not
    required
  • Possess a solid proficiency with MS Office Suite.  In addition, proficiency with Lacerte, CCH
    Tax Products is a plus
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities and effective negotiation
    tactics
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to
    meet client and tax compliance deadlines
  • Self-directed and self-motivated work ethic by producing
    quality work with quick turnaround and attentive service

Work Environment

  • Hybrid.  You will need to go into the Rochester, NY office 2-3 times per week
  • Standard
    office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a
    computer at the firm or at client locations
  • Must
    have reliable transportation to travel to client offices
  • Occasional
    out-of-town travel may be required
  • Moderate
    to low overtime is expected throughout the year, with a higher level of overtime
    during tax season to complete tax engagements
  • Competitive

    $100,000-$150,000
